Aroma - Spicy, bold oak, cinnamon, clove, pumpkin bread, molasses, cocoa, burnt marshmallow, and moderate ethanol. Palate - It is much lighter on the tongue than the aroma suggests. Dark honey, caramel fudge brownies, dark chocolate with sea salt, gingerbread, and clove. The finish is medium-short with light, syrupy honey and caramel, hints of clove and cardamom, tannic but not overly dry oak, and light ethanol. I received a 2 oz sample from a friend, and it's my first time trying a Remus Repeal. This smells like a cask strength, but drinks like a 90-100 proof spirit. I love the aroma, but honestly it somewhat fades on the palate and disappears quickly. I anticipated a syrupy and oily mouth-coating finish given the age and aroma, but it drinks more like a one-dimensional Buffalo Trace product. Is it superior to standard MGP bourbons? Definitely. Is it worth $100 retail? Absolutely not.

This is my second Remus expression; the first was the 5yr. This one provides a soft strawberry and cherry cream mid-palate and finishes medium to long with a substantial rye kick full of Christmas spices. This is a beautiful bourbon; I'll be getting a few more bottles before they disappear. The 5yr is better by a hair, and it should be given its age, but this bottle is not far behind. This whiskey is very different, although it has very quintessential flavor notes. 93/100 Cheers. This whiskey is straight sexy; grab a bottle.

Nose: intensely sweet peanut brittle. If I didn't know better, I would guess this was a Russell's selection. Palate: some candied pecans, and some slightly bitter but pleasant barrel tannins, but I cannot discern anything else. Finish: the finish surpasses the palate, oak is certainly present along with big red gum and some cayenne in the back of the throat. It wasn't what I anticipated from the nose, so it was a fun experience!

This is a very fulfilling pour. Strong scents of vanilla and caramel, with perhaps a hint of cherry. The taste lives up to the aroma, with a touch of spice that carries into the finish. Excellent balance, neither too strong in proof nor too thin. There's a definite cherry note on the finish which, while not unusual, is a fruitier cherry and not medicinal. Recommended.

The aroma is quite nice with sweet caramel and fruit. However, the palate isn't quite to my liking. Bright strawberry and a slight vanilla sweetness. And there's a note on the finish that I can't quite identify, but it feels a bit out of sync. Definitely not worth the asking price.

Aroma: caramel, cola, floral honey notes Body: medium Palate: caramel, barrel char, with more white pepper spice on the back palate Finish: medium to long, with light barrel char and smoke. Very enjoyable. Note: this is a pleasing dram. Truly solid. It doesn'tWow, but it's a genuinely enjoyable sipper.
