Remus 15 Year Gatsby Reserve (2022 Edition)

Nose: Aged, earthy oak, peanut, some savory notes, almond jello. Palate: The palate echoes the nose, with almond jello prominent initially, followed by overripe wild cherries and grainy oak. The body is somewhat thin, but the flavor is more intense than its proof suggests. Finish: It's long but not intensely flavored. Dry, astringent tannins. Oak and dark chocolate linger for a considerable time. A rather distinctive offering. It's brighter than I expected, and that almond jello note is delightful. I'm pleased to own a bottle; there are many subtle layers to uncover. Rated 9 on the t8ke scale.

Nose presents as pencil shavings and peanut butter, with caramel notes. A touch of cinnamon spice appears later, followed by a hint of mint after the first taste. Later still, cherry pie crust emerges. The body is medium to full. The palate is sweet and spicy, with hints of caramel. The finish is long, slightly dry, and smoky (great!). Notes: Enjoyed this after the first Wolves game of the season; it was a loss but still fun. I like this. It lacks a certain dark fruitiness I appreciate in aged bourbons, but it's good.

This bourbon possesses the full body and taste of a 130 proof spirit, yet without the high alcohol content. It presents as slightly 'aged' with substantial flavor and a lot happening. Effortless to drink.

after three months, this is finally meeting expectations. It's becoming quite excellent, and I'm curious if more complexity will emerge over time.

Spicy on the palate, with toffee and caramel flavors emerging at the finish. It becomes less peppery as you continue to drink. It improves with further consumption.

If this were labeled as Turkey, I wouldn't dispute it. It resembles a sweeter, diluted version of Rare Breed. The price is excessive.
