NEAT BATCH 002 AROMA - Eucalyptus, Honey, and Citrus PALATE - The initial taste is marked by significant rye spice. Just as it begins to become dominant, there's a swift shift to honey sweetness with a diluted honey consistency. The palate is quite direct and simple, featuring mint and honey. FINISH - Rather extended. It leaves a clean, refreshing aftertaste, similar to chewing spearmint gum or eating mint ice cream. SHOULD I BUY? - It's not bad, but it's currently my least preferred from the Small Lot Series. I haven't tried the Foggy Burl yet, however. If you're aiming to complete the small lot series collection, it's a passable purchase, but you likely wouldn't miss much by skipping it. SHOULD I BUY AGAIN? - Probably not, unless I hear that subsequent batches are considerably improved.

The aroma presents notes of rye bread, strawberry, smoked wood, ginger soda, nectar, and a whisper of vanilla cream. The alcohol scent is very faint. It lacks depth, but the existing elements are quite agreeable. The taste starts with nectar, citrus zest, spice, anise, and an unidentifiable but present floral touch (perhaps jasmine?). The moderately long conclusion features warehouse mustiness, abundant black pepper, some mild oak, spice, dried leaves, peppermint, and charred barrel essence. The texture is medium-bodied and smooth. It's a respectable pour, particularly given its apparent youth. While it possesses a somewhat distinctive character, nothing is truly remarkable or astonishing. For the price of $89.99, superior alternatives are readily available. I cannot see myself purchasing it again.

Nose: Smells very much like Scotch, with many honey notes detected. Taste: Quite distinct rye characteristics, with fruity notes reminiscent of Japanese whiskies. A very subtle Scotch essence is also present. The finish is shorter than anticipated but quite pleasing. Tastes like peach cobbler on the finish. Overall: This is unlike any spirit I have encountered before. It will likely not appeal to everyone, but I found it enjoyable and very easy to drink. A must-try for those seeking novel blends and flavors. I intend to explore other special editions from this producer.

This whiskey isn't complicated, but it offers pleasant notes of rye, with honeyed sweetness on the tongue and a spicy finish.
