Redbreast All Sherry Single Cask #42884 (CWS)

Absolutely incredible. Outstanding. Fantastic. I've heard tales of the finest Irish whiskey there is, Redbreast, but I've never sampled it. At a tasting event, I had a couple of drams of this gem. It completely astonished me. Let me start by saying my favorite whisky to date is Glenmorangie Signet. This one is its twin. Bottled at a remarkable 59.9% ABV, it's the darkest dram I've encountered so far. Almost the color of treacle. Perhaps brown sherry colored. I know I'm writing extensively here, but please bear with me; when I discover a treasure, I like to share it. All Irish whiskies are distilled three times. Single pot still whiskey is a type of Irish whiskey made by a single distillery from a mixed mash of malted and unmalted barley, distilled in a pot still. On the nose, it's perfect. A dessert: SO MUCH CHOCOLATE. Coffee. Cocoa. Cocoa powder (formula) to make chocolate milk. Impalpable sugar. Dulce de leche. It's the end of the world as we know it. On the palate, it's also amazing. Prunes. Chocolate. Brown sugar. Burnt caramel. Butterscotch. The finish is short. It's my only criticism. It lost two points for this, bringing the final score to 98 out of 100, BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THE FINISH WHEN YOU'VE HAD THIS SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE? LET'S JUST GIVE IT A PERFECT 100 OUT OF 100. SLAINTE MHATH!

Very good, yet I find it less impressive compared to other Redbreast single casks I've sampled, and other Irish whiskeys from a fantastic selection I tried, which included Celtic Cask 30, Celtic Cask 35, Bushmills 1991 Madeira Cask, Teeling 30, and Redbreast 16 Year Cask 17126 from my private stock. Nose: Raisins, milk chocolate, toffee, grapefruit, apricots, peaches, Luxardo cherries, mangoes, almonds, chestnuts. Palate: Raisinettes, peaches, mangoes, kiwis, pears, vanilla, salted caramel, almonds, prunes, Luxardo cherries, hazelnuts, raspberries, vanilla, figs. Finish: Raisins, grapefruit, hazelnuts, raspberries, almonds, walnuts, orange peels, white peaches.

Nose: hint of sherry, sugary scent Taste: caramel sweetness, tropical pineapple, full-bodied
