Rare Character Presents Single Barrel Series

Sinkers Wine & Spirits 118.2: The nose has smores, rich mahogany, leather, and dark chocolate. One of the best noses I've encountered recently. On the palate, I get a rich mouthfeel with notes of cinnamon, caramel, and spice, and a surprisingly hot palate that includes hints of citrus and oak. Good, but didn't quite live up to the nose (4.25/5) Red Dog KRY 117.98: The nose has vanilla, oak, chocolate, and light plum notes. On the palate, I immediately get fudge, followed by oak, sweet cereal, and floral notes. The finish is pleasant, with more fruit, cognac, and mint (4/5). Red Dog Rum Cask 118.48: The nose has molasses, caramel, and maple. A caramel bomb on the palate, with notes of butterscotch and peanut as well. A long smooth finish with hints of cinnamon and peanuts (4.25/5). Red Sog IRT 117.66: The nose is a bit musty, with notes of maple and cigar box. That continues on the palate, with additional notes of cognac and fig. The finish is short, very dry tannic oak, not my favorite finish of the group (3.75/5). Red Dog White Port 110.82: The nose is a bit one-dimensional; I got straight oak. The palate is more oak but very rich and viscous. I also get hints of dark fruit. Transitioning to the finish, the white port shines through in a pleasant, subtle way, along with hot tamale (4/5). Bourbon Pursuit 121.68: The nose has peach, orange, and floral notes. On the palate, I get caramel, more floral notes, and subtle oak. The finish is disappointing, with cinnamon and a bit of dill. High hopes for this one, and it disappointed compared to the others, which were all good in their own way. This one was mediocre at best (3.75/5). Party Source Amburana Finish: Cinnamon toast crunch, raisin, cherry. Very good! (4.5/5)

***CORONA CIGAR TAMPA PICK*** Nose - Smoky cinnamon roll. Abundant bakery aromas mixed with that spicy rye scent, giving it an ashy quality. Palate - The taste matches the aroma. Very smoky with a light sweetness like a cinnamon roll. Significant rye spice followed by cinnamon and pepper. An unusual ethanol note is present; its likeability is uncertain. Finish - More cinnamon and light sweetness. The smokiness dominates much of it. Some harshness is present here and there, but not excessively hot.

Indiana spirit Aroma: intense nutty scent, burnt caramel, marshmallow fluff, rye spice Taste: sweet corn, chicory, peppermint; you can sense the 111.74 proof, some green apple on the finish, cinnamon and oak Adding water reveals some fruity notes, licorice, raisins, a bit of toast; the finish is long and fruity.

JIT 071 - Charleston Bourbon Pick - The proof definitely brings the "Kentucky hug," but its notable sweetness makes it pleasurable. It has a firm oak finish as the spices fade. It lacks enough complexity beyond that for me to adore it, but I'm happy to have acquired it!
