Ragtime Rye American Straight Whiskey

Perhaps it's because this is the second one, and my palate has adjusted, but I actually like this one, and it contradicts my earlier statement of disappointment in the 3.5 to 3.9 distiller rating range. There are always exceptions, I suppose! It has nice spicy rye, caramel, and black tea, as another person noted. It's not a mind-blowing rye, and the aftertaste is slightly astringent, but it's my kind of rye. A solid effort, and I rate it higher than the average score, which isn't common for me. 3.75.

Let it rest for 5 minutes. Aroma: Starts with strong ethanol. Chocolate then comes in nicely. Some earthy wheat/grains. Wood barrels are present. Palate: Hot & Spicy immediately. Wood grain in the background. Sweet maple syrup underlies the palate. Finish: Spice and heat remain on the tongue. The finish is quick and easy, quite thin. Overall, it is sweet and pleasant, but the ethanol and alcohol burn are noticeable throughout the experience.

A gathering with two people (one named Marco). An interesting new discovery. My first rye whiskey. The initial few sips were quite outside my usual preferences, but the more I've consumed it, the better it tastes. The rating could be anywhere between 2 and 4. It's very difficult to assign a score. Variety is refreshing!

Dominant rye on the nose. The palate is smooth and very woodsy. Rye, cedar, and campfire smoke are prominent, while subtle pitted fruit and spices provide a background complexity. The finish is medium and emphasizes the spicy barrel notes.

I typically don't favor bourbon, let alone rye, but I found this enjoyable. The aroma presents black tea, vanilla cream, and rye. The palate offers notes of tobacco, cherries, dill, and charred oak. The finish is full and quite long.

Extremely woody and almost medicinal. Smoky and somewhat peaty. The rye is certainly prominent, but it almost tastes like a Scotch. It's complex, but not among my top choices.
