I don't recall what made me pick this up, but I did, and now I can give you all my thoughts. Unlike most reviews I've encountered, I purchased this bottle myself. Nose - Initially, I detect significant bourbon characteristics. Vanilla and mild oak are present, alongside caramel and a rye spice. Further investigation reveals a "green" sweetness reminiscent of tea leaves. A faint menthol note is also perceptible. Finally, an earthy, barn-like oak aroma emerges. Taste - In contrast to the nose, the palate offers an exciting and dynamic experience. It begins sweet and fruity, with orchard fruits and caramel mingling with brown sugar. The spices then arrive forcefully, delivering a sharp bite on the tongue. Notes of wintergreen mint, rye bread, tea leaves, and possibly butterscotch (was that from the bottle or in my head?) emerge. I suspect the toasted barrels contribute substantial upfront sweetness, which is then countered by intensely spicy, charred rye casks. This is a quality spirit. In fact, it's exceptionally good. It's well-balanced, bottled at cask strength, and while six years isn't extensive aging, it's respectable for a rye. At $180 a bottle? The cost seems driven by the presentation more than the liquid itself, but I genuinely believe this is a fine $100 bottle, which is rare for a rye. Score: 3.25. Definitely above average. While it's a bit pricey, I don't regret buying it. If you're a dedicated rye enthusiast, this might warrant a purchase, but you'd need a strong affinity for rye for the price to be considered reasonable.

This is the finest rye I've ever tasted! The aroma is rich and sweet. There's very little burn for its proof. The best aspects are the palate and finish: sweet with surprisingly balanced rye spice. It has a great mouthfeel, pleasantly oily. Rich and well-balanced. The finish is long, lingering, and slowly fades. It's at the perfect proof. Every element is executed exceptionally well. At $195, it's worth the price compared to other premium ryes of this quality. I would certainly purchase it again at this price. Get a bottle before word gets out and prices increase! Excellent work by Rabbit Hole. I anticipate future Founder's collection releases.
It’s like a floral caress on the tongue. The best rye I’ve tasted.
