Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey

A gentle scent with light notes of honey or golden syrup, daisies, vanilla, and a hint of fresh wood, plus a touch of sharpness like pears. The taste is sweeter but still delicate. There's some bitterness on the mid-palate and a bit of white pepper, though it's generally smooth. The flavors are reminiscent of Cream of Wheat with vanilla almond milk and honey, eaten with a wooden spoon, perhaps with caramel applesauce on the side. It has a light, thin body. In the glass, it drains relatively quickly, almost forming legs before vanishing into droplets of various sizes. The finish is brief and dry, with the flavor shifting from sweet to a more raw oak tannin character. It's not very complex, but it's a good Irish Whiskey for everyday sipping or when you don't want something intense. Nose: 7 Palate: 7 Body: 6 Finish: 7

[12.16.22] Got a free sample in Madison on the way back from the capitol building. Charming place downtown with a great selection of scotch upstairs. My apologies to the ladies hosting the tasting; I'm sure I seemed a little rude. One would imagine someone in MacGregor's position would understand not to offer a product that tastes like Jameson for an additional 10%. It's not surprising at all to find out this is a Guinness partnership, nor that they're donating a small amount per case (not bottle) to a charity. It's better than Jameson Black Label, but it's still just a standard Irish whiskey. It goes down smooth, like water. There are hardly any barrel notes or a whisper of vanilla or floral essence. Essentially, this is like drinking alcohol-infused water at the same cost as Russell's Reserve. Make a smart choice. And give your spare change to your neighborhood food pantry.

A deep amber color with a thinner viscosity Nose: light with the distinctive pot still nuances, sweet honey and slight vanilla notes. Very pleasant especially as it opens up with sugary spices. Palate: malted barley grassy notes very floral up front. Sweetness appears in the middle with a slight vanilla note and kitchen spices. On the back, fruit of pears and apple peel. Finish: finish is medium short with a pleasant aftertaste of light fruits and peels. Overall a pleasant pour easy sipping. Not the best flavor as its a very light body.

The aroma is quite lovely, which is surprising considering its cost. A lot of citrus sits atop apple spice and fresh minty leaves. Palate: The mouthfeel is rather delicate, perhaps some applewood; it was challenging to pinpoint. Finish: This is a very mellow whiskey that goes down quite easily, leaving behind almost a minty note along with a soft butter pecan flavor. Overall, it's pretty good, though I wish there was more on the finish. However, the aroma is genuinely solid, and I'm a fan of this for the price.

Right from the start, I notice a light hint of green apple followed by cereal grains. On first sip, on the palate, I detect a hint of green apple and more cereal grain which ends in a very short finish. There isn’t much more for me to say. This is a hard pass for me in the future. I’m glad the experience costed me the price of a 50ml bottle.

The hype got me this bottle finally but it tastes like watered down bourbon… doesn’t really have the unique Irish whiskey note and taste. However its not a bad drink personally i was little disappointed with the overall experience but its a great drink for a beginner for sure!
