Prologue Blended Malt (Chapter 7)

It's a peated scotch. The nose has butterscotch, toffee, and a hint of pecan. A slight green apple taste appears, and you can detect the influence of the ex-bourbon barrel aging on the finish. It's not bad for a scotch, but it's not really my preference.

The initial aroma presents strong notes of smoky peat and cherry fruit. The first taste is smooth, with vanilla, licorice, and tobacco, followed by a spicy pepper finish. There is very little to no peat flavor detected.

Day 3 of the Flaviar tasting set - I'm not typically a scotch drinker, and this experience won't change that. It's really not an inspiring dram.

From the Flaviar Advent calendar, Day 3, tasted without knowing what it was. A fairly standard scotch – peat, mild smoke, a faint fruitiness (perhaps peach?), and a spicy end. Not particularly smooth.
