Sampled 2oz neat in a Glencairn glass. Allowed to rest for 5 minutes, then another 10 after the initial impression. Nose: A rich, bold, fruit-forward aroma that is very prominent. It evokes fruit cocktail or fruit cup without being overly sweet. This is balanced by aged notes of oak and aromatic pipe tobacco. Palate: Like a fruit cup coated in caramel! While that sounds very sweet, it isn't. After resting and a second taste following 10 minutes, it evolves into strawberry-vanilla cream. The robust oak provides a solid foundation. This is skillfully crafted. Finish: Long, enduring, with no harshness. It tastes of strawberry and cream, reminiscent of strawberry/vanilla ice cream. Overall: An outstanding bottle. I was concerned it would be weak and over-oaked, but it was the opposite. Truly excellent!

Darwin Weiner 4.5

Nose: Rich mixed berries and rye spice, dark caramel, very dense and sweet Taste: dark burnt sugars, strong oak, deep caramel, decadent sweetness and a nice hint of spice and chocolate Finish: the oak and caramel meld into dark chocolate, with swirling bitter oak and rye spice and a slight tingle on the sides of the tongue

The presentation and bottle are attractive. It's a bit one-dimensional and light with a brief finish. A decent pour, but not exceptional for a 15-year-old at $150.
