Point Rider Bourbon. 40% ABV. Aged for 36 months (3 years). Part of the Sazerac brand, it uses the same bottle as Benchmark. Produced and bottled in Kentucky. Aroma: sweet and sour apples/fruity. Taste: sweet initially, fruity, with a hint of charred oak on the finish. It has a similar taste to Old Crow. Smooth for its price point and generally okay flavor. Found at Ralph's, a private label. Price: $8-9 plus tax for a 750ml bottle. Rating: C

I suspect this is Benchmark with a different label, as the bottle is identical. This is acceptable since my local store doesn't carry Benchmark. I notice no difference in taste, meaning it's a decent, lower-tier bourbon. I keep a bottle of inexpensive whiskey like this in a decanter for when my brother-in-law visits. He's not particular and will drink anything.

Tried it neat and allowed it to breathe for 10 minutes...very harsh, meaning not smooth. Some traces of oak and vanilla, perhaps. I am going to try chilling it, but right now I am looking for something to mix with it. Will not purchase again.

Notes of apple, toasted peanuts, and sweet corn. Considering the price, it's quite good. I suspect it would receive many positive comments in a blind tasting.

Arthur Ross 3.8

Very easy to drink for about $10. It's better than Jack or Southern Comfort and has a pleasant 'juicy fruit' flavor.

Carly Correa 2.3

Another standard Kentucky bourbon.
