About this bottle

Planteray Jamaica 2003 is a vintage offering within the Birds of Paradise limited collection. This rum originated from double retort Vendome pot stills at Clarendon Distillery, where it underwent a lengthy, spontaneous fermentation lasting two weeks with indigenous yeast. Its creation involved vinasse and muck, a compost of distillation residue, yielding a robust, high-ester spirit. The rum spent 16 years maturing in Jamaica in ex-bourbon barrels, followed by one year in Maison Ferrand French oak casks in Cognac. A total of 29 casks were produced, bottled at 49.5% ABV, and released in October 2020.

Nickolas Whitt 4.0

A robust Jamaican rum foundation is present, complemented by hints of French oak cask. As it dilutes, the character becomes confused and less distinct. Best enjoyed with very little ice, as water overly blurs the taste.
