A bit light-bodied, exhibiting typical Hampden funk with a subtle caramel presence on both the nose and palate (likely from the bourbon cask). There's a somewhat damp/mildewy characteristic in the finish (in a positive way). I believe the proof works well here; I would be interested in seeing a similar bottling with one of the high ester marques.
