And I'm working through my final few samples from closed distilleries. Rosebank, Port Dundas, Carsebridge, Glenesk, and then I'll have no more that I can acquire at a reasonable price. I've noticed a few more full bottles available from places like Banff and Mosstowie, starting at $1000USD, but sadly the few samples I've seen are excessively expensive—usually $60 to $100USD even before shipping and taxes. There were still about 20 distilleries that closed during the 1970s and 1980s massacre that I never got to try, but that's life. I did manage to sample many others. Pittyvaich is one that isn't just a token effort. They've done an excellent job representing this distillery. With a bit of water, it has beautiful, sweet, perfectly balanced vanilla and honey. The aftertaste is slightly bitter and brief, but it's still a pleasant way to experience another ghost distillery offering.
