Malcolm Willard 3.5

The aroma is rather mild, featuring charred oak, earthy rye spice, dried flowers, vanilla, and sweet molasses notes. It feels refreshing, though perhaps a bit young. It maintains a pleasant spiciness as it airs, suggesting a straightforward sip. The palate is smooth but packed with earthy rye spice that coats most of the mouth, though not entirely reaching the edges. Faint notes of dried flowers emerge behind the spice, but it remains primarily spicy. It doesn't change much beyond the initial spice, but that doesn't detract from how enjoyable and easy it is to drink. For an uncomplicated rye, this is it. The finish is medium and spicy, fading quickly without much lingering complexity. It's a slight disappointment, but not unexpected given the simple palate.
