This is the first calvados I've tried. Now, I'm sure I'll be seen as a calvados novice by saying this, but... well, it tastes like apples. The aroma isn't particularly strong or complex (mostly apples!). The taste has a bit of spice along with the apples. When I was a kid, my mom sometimes made baked cinnamon apples on Sunday mornings, and this reminds me of that. There's also a cidery tang to it, especially in the finish. The expert review states, "Perhaps not the most complex, but easy to enjoy," and I think that's quite accurate. It's a solid, tasty drink that occupies a different flavor profile than typical (i.e., grape) brandies. I'd like to explore more calvados, but there aren't many affordable options, so I might end up returning to this one. At $35, it's not exactly a steal, but it's a fair price.

This is my initial experience tasting cognac. I have a large collection of scotch at home, but I decided to try something different today. Nose: apple, wood, vanilla, and perhaps strangely, I detect olive and spice. Palate: fruity, spicy, quite straightforward. Finish: sweet, but a lot of spice returns. It doesn't linger long. For a first try, it's not bad, but not great. The price is very reasonable, but to properly assess the taste, I need to sample more cognacs.

I'm a big fan of Calvados. Compared to Laird's 7.5-year American Apple Brandy, this is much more distinctly apple-flavored, with sweet red apple, dark cider, and a fruity sweetness. I also detect some oak spice in the finish. Delightful. The unique apple varieties cultivated by Calvados farmers, along with the double distillation process, truly make this spirit stand out. It's always a pleasure.

I agree with the expert review... Sweet and smooth, yet it has enough complexity to make you want to keep sipping. My first Calvados, and I agree it's a great one to start with. I enjoyed sipping it after dinner. I tried a second Calvados that I found too alcoholic and bitter compared to this one.

Golden color. Nose has notes of overripe apples, mandarin, earth, and a hint of wood. Taste has apples, fresher, mandarin tones, a bit sharp. The finish is not very long, with an apple character. 84/100
