Penelope Toasted Barrel Strength Bourbon Char 5, Heavy Toast

This is the first pour from this bottle. I had heard great things and was keen to open it. I wasn't overly impressed with the initial taste. It seemed a bit unfocused, and I couldn't quite discern the tasting notes. I set it aside and returned about 15-20 minutes later, and it seemed to have opened up and improved. Perhaps my palate was adjusting after dinner, who knows. I'm looking forward to trying it again in a couple of days.

Aroma: grain and oak. Taste: sweet caramel and oak. Grain notes on the finish.
