Before proceeding, please refer to my previous assessment of the standard Peg Leg Porker Bourbon, which outlines the unique aspects of the brand. This expression is approximately 2-4 years older than the standard offering. The flavor profile is quite similar to the previous whiskey, but the added age has clearly resulted in a more developed and balanced character. This indicates a superior underlying bourbon quality compared to the base, retaining the signature BBQ notes. I believe this version is more approachable and could appeal to a wider audience, yet I personally favor the original. It's still very good, but I gravitate towards Peg Leg for its distinctive, bold BBQ flavor, which I find more pronounced in the base whiskey. While this edition's taste is more refined, it seems to be losing some of the intense "good old southern BBQ" impact that I enjoyed so much in the other. It still possesses a good amount of that character, make no mistake. Furthermore, considering it's $10-15 less expensive, I would consistently opt for the original on the shelf.

The nose carries a sweet note of vanilla. The initial sip brings a quick spice that lingers pleasantly. Caramel and oak emerge in the lasting finish. Adding ice enhances the oak presence.
Similar to its older sibling, smooth, rich, and ideal for pairing with barbecue ribs or pulled pork.
