Peerless Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon "Meijer Sweet and Smoky Goodness"

First pour in a Glencairn glass. Needs 10 minutes to open up. Initial thoughts: impressive, gorgeous bottle. The stopper weighs a lot. A great classic bottle and label design. Nose: Fresh oak, vanilla, barrel char, pepper, and spicy cinnamon immediately come from the glass. My first impression is that it smells a bit like Wild Turkey Rare Breed, which I adore. The aroma perfectly matches the nickname "sweet and Smoky goodness". There's a touch of sweetness, like vanilla frosting. Palate: The mouthfeel is buttery with a slight dryness at the end. It's very sweet initially, then peppery and spicy towards the finish. It coats the mouth incredibly, covering the entire palate with a warm tingling sensation and an explosion of flavor. Finish: Medium to long, with cinnamon red hots, vanilla, pepper, and a cooling mint. Nose: After the first sip, the aroma develops a very subtle herbal and floral quality, perhaps rosemary and dill. I detect a note of Gardetto's rye chip in the background that complements these herbal notes. Very pleasing. For being about 4.5 years old, this is exceptional! A bit pricey? Yes, but completely worth it in my view. I spent a lot of time researching this before purchasing. I tried the small batch bourbon and wasn't particularly impressed. However, this single barrel selection by a store in Indianapolis is outstanding! Excellent work on this one! My only regret is not buying it sooner.
