My initial experience with this rum. It's a special, limited bottling, so if you're seeking a quality sipping rum that won't cost too much, this might be a suitable choice. The price is comparable to another aged rum, and the profile and taste are similar, but this one offers more chocolate and coffee notes in its aroma and flavor, which, for me, distinguishes it from other aged rums. The palate is rich and complex, and the finish is long and smooth.

About this bottle
Master blender Ron Call created Papa's Pilar Marquesas Blend Rum by combining seven rums aged up to 24 years, sourced from the Caribbean, the US, and Central America. The blend then underwent a finishing period in ex-bourbon barrels. The rum is named after the Marquesas Keys, a group of uninhabited islands near Key West where Ernest Hemingway was once stranded for two weeks after a fishing trip. This limited edition rum became available in October 2019.

Excellent flavor, sweet at first with a slight oak undertone and a finish of nutmeg and toasted almond. The nose has a lot of vanilla and is very inviting. This is a very well-crafted rum without any unusual notes you might encounter in other rums. The flavor profile is very smooth.
Fantastic! The ideal combination of rum and bourbon... creamy sweetness, spice, and oak. I need to locate another bottle of this exceptionally crafted Rum. As someone who has exclusively and traditionally consumed Bourbon for 30 years, this spirit is amazing! Kudos to the team that produced this for a job well done.
This is delicious! Dark brown sugar, toasted marshmallow, and oaky on the palate. Nice long finish. This is a must-buy for any bourbon or rum enthusiast.
Sweet, with maple and caramel flavors, and a hint of whiskey on the finish. A delicious rum for sipping, and it makes an excellent old fashioned.
Slightly sweet. Smooth as silk. Best enjoyed neat or with a mixer. I wouldn't shake it much to avoid bruising it.
