About this bottle

Ernest, the rarest offering yet from the rum brand inspired by Ernest "Papa" Hemingway, was created by seventh generation Master Distiller Ron Call. He blended rums from South and Central American countries, then finished the blend first in new, heavily toasted American oak barrels and subsequently in cognac and armagnac casks. Only 400 bottles were produced. Sales begin on July 21, 2023, Hemingway's birthday, via the brand's website. (SRP $599).

This might be the ultimate rum expression. The nose presents a refined wood cask aroma supporting a vibrant and rich rum base. Notes of saddle leather, young tobacco, gingerbread, and toasted pecans enhance its appeal. Upon tasting, the flavor profile starts with a robust and dark oak character. Significant tannins create a dry, somewhat tea-like sensation on the tongue. The body is firm, well-balanced, and fades smoothly. The finish is exceptionally long, concluding with an almost velvety caramel taste. Whether you're a rum enthusiast or a Hemingway fan, this rum is recommended.
