Opulent Vodka

The aroma is virtually absent, with only a faint hint of earth and some alcohol present. The palate is extremely harsh but does possess a pleasant fruitiness. Unfortunately, there's also an excessive amount of rubbery flavor. The overall profile is similar to another vodka I've tried, but this one is harsher and has a more flawed fruit character. The harshness is truly over the top. There's a peppery sensation, perhaps mixed with salt, that feels like it's being dumped directly down the throat – it's painful! The rubbery taste is also present. This is quite bad, scoring a 7 at best. I'm inclined to start with a 6 for this one.

The spice intensifies as you drink it. It has more heft than Skyy's. There's considerably more fruitiness, which is a pleasant surprise. After sampling a couple of other vodkas, the rubber note has faded, leaving a predominantly fruity, spicy character. Therefore, I don't believe this assessment is very dependable and I will not assign a score. At this moment though, despite the sharpness, I'm quite enjoying this vodka.

Good grief, this is incredibly harsh, not spicy, just pure alcohol flavor! It's like the worst parts of two different vodkas were combined. There's a hint of pleasant sweetness and fruit, but they're completely overshadowed. I suppose it could be used in a mixed drink, but on its own, it's quite bad. I'll increase the score slightly for the fruitiness, though.

This American corn vodka is well-rounded, with a clean, sweet profile. It's distilled five times, presenting a whisper of toastiness that leads to a smooth finish. Dec 2015 / Jul 2017 / Feb 2019
