About this bottle

Old Soul Blended Straight Bourbon is crafted by Cathead Distillery, combining three high-rye straight bourbons: two sourced from Indiana's MGP Distillery and one developed in-house. The blend comprises 55% of a 4-year, 8-month-old bourbon (MGP), 35% of a 4-year, 3-month-old bourbon (MGP), and 10% of a 2-year, 1-month-old bourbon (Cathead). It is bottled at 90 proof.

Connor Stapleton 3.5

A solid bottle with enjoyable flavor. It's essentially a vanilla overload. Vanilla. Frosting. Citrus. A pleasant burnt note. Some pine on the nose. Consistent vanilla throughout the tasting. Very sweet. Concludes with oak and dark caramel alongside some spice. Lingers with a bitter quality. It's a drinkable bottle. Uncomplicated.

Ahmed Sheldon 4.0

Nose: Gentle aroma, with faint vanilla notes. Taste: Good and lasting warmth, nice rye character, and light sweetness from its smoothness. Overall: An excellent bourbon for daily drinking, not a harsh rye at 90 proof, very well balanced. Dangerously easy to consume.

Wilson Carrera 1.5

Very faint vanilla aroma. A rather prolonged burn with nothing truly prominent besides a lengthy, intense tongue burn. For a high rye (which I adore) it's a letdown. I will not repurchase it.

Cora Goins 1.8

The aroma is akin to rubbing alcohol, and the taste is similar. While I appreciate the gift, finishing the bottle was a struggle, and I would not buy it myself.

Everett Cummings 3.5

Tasting this for the first time. I can't get past the "young bourbon" flavor. It's on the higher end of immature, craft bourbons, but truly not my preference.

Erika Guzman 4.0

A respectable bourbon for a 5-year-old. Non-chill filtration contributes to a sweeter profile. It's certainly drinkable and worth considering for purchase.
