This was sampled at Heathrow last week and left a strong positive impression. Rich, full of flavor, and distinct enough from the 12-year expression to justify its creation. It nearly made me break my commitment to refrain from purchasing bottles for a period.

About this bottle
Distillery manager Malcolm Waring selected only a few first-fill ex-bourbon barrels for this vintage bottling from Old Pulteney. Initially intended solely for Travel Retail upon its 2017 announcement, this release from one of Scotland's northernmost distilleries is now more broadly available.

The first-fill bourbon barrel provides intense vanilla and toasted nuts alongside Pulteney's characteristic sea spray and mild fruitiness. Certainly a bottling with good value.
