I received a sample of this as part of a gift set. This is not a spirit I'll be actively looking for. It's quite one-dimensional. The nose starts off a bit sweet, with sugary scents and some unidentifiable tart fruit (perhaps sour apple juice), quickly followed by smoke, but not a campfire kind unless the fire had long since died down. It's more like ash than smoke. The palate's initial sweetness gives way to that ashy quality on the mid-palate. It reminds me of the scent of my father's pipe when he was cleaning it. Despite the relatively low alcohol content, the finish is quite hot and peppery, possibly indicating its youth. The finish continues with more of that ash, as expected. Only much later, after exhaling through my nose, do I detect a hint of brininess and iodine. This was not an enjoyable experience for me. It was excessively ashy for my preference. Perhaps additional barrel time for this NAS would add depth and complexity, while mellowing the ashiness and heat.

Old Perth peaty Intense complexity, similar to a Caol Ila blend, oily, thick, caramel, fruity rose, 3 Low intensity, offering a mild initial impact, followed by an increasing mouthfeel of peatiness, an oaky wooden sensation, and thick complexity. Nice tinge 2.5 Long-lasting oaky and wooden notes 2.5 2.75 SWEET FRUIT AND FLORAL, APPLE, CANDY, STRONG LIGHT SWEETNESS, COMPLEXITY, AND MORE OILINESS TO THIS 3 DELICATE CANDY GUMMY BEAR TASTE, OH WOW, AND A ZEST OF CITRUS HITS YOU ON THE SIDE PALATE THAT REALLY SURPRISED ME. Hay, manure, and tobacco aromas. It's well-peated but lacks refinement.
