The aroma starts with buttery charred oak, earthy rye, hints of caramel, all combined into a superb experience. You can discern the individual nuances as well as the overall blend. It certainly builds anticipation for a taste. The palate is gentle and somewhat dry, coating the mouth with earthy rye and some distinct grainy notes – but not distractingly so. Following closely is that creamy oak, providing a buttery mouthfeel. If a dessert could be simultaneously spicy and creamy, this would be it. It's that straightforward and has an uncomplicated deliciousness. The finish is long and chewy with a lingering earthy rye spice and graininess, lacking the creamy notes. This is acceptable, as it's a rye, and you want it to be pleasantly spicy, which it is. This is a winner.
