Johnie Bachman 3.5

A bit underwhelming. I've encountered incredible reviews for this one. Bottled at 43% ABV, it's much stronger than typical blended whiskies. On the nose, there's a prominent vanilla note with very faint hints of peat (like the slightly pungent peat from Johnnie Walker Red Label), along with herbal notes and spices. You immediately think: "this is going to be very, very spicy" Indeed, on the palate, it's the spiciest I've ever experienced. I'm not a fan of certain spices, so the spiciness isn't ideal for me. It's intensely spicy and hot on the palate, with caramel and toffee notes, possibly some nuts or almonds, and oakiness throughout. It's so hot it burns; the finish is fiery and medium-long lasting.

Nose: honey, sweetness, vanilla, caramel, and no evident alcohol. Palate: A balance between dry and sweet, light and slightly creamy. Honey and vanilla are present. A little alcohol warmth is also noticeable. Finish: Short, predominantly sweet and spicy. Overall impressions: Good value for money and delivers as promised. Great for drinking with a large ice sphere, during a barbecue, or casual get-togethers.

Chocolate and licorice notes come through on the tongue, with hints of raisins. The aroma features berries and almonds. It has a lengthy finish.
