The aroma is a vibrant mix of charred oak, vanilla, cherry, with a touch of brown sugar and molasses. The taste delivers a punch of pepper and dry oak, presenting a rich, chewy texture. Brown sugar and molasses linger in the background, making it seem straightforward yet embodying classic bourbon characteristics. The finish is medium and slightly peppery, leaving a tingling sensation as the dry oak fades.

This is great. First, you get vanilla and caramel, then spice, and then it vanishes, leaving you wondering what that was. You sip again, uncovering more intricate spice notes. It's perfect for an Old Fashioned, as if it already includes Angostura bitters.
A really good bourbon, especially for the price on a 12 year old. I've enjoyed other bottles from this brand, and this one too. The 90 proof keeps it smooth but not as mellow as an 80 proof. The long aging gives it good notes of oak, caramel, vanilla, and a hint of lemon.
I'd readily award this three and a half stars if possible. It offers a wonderful initial buttery taste. My sole critique is that the finish, while decently long, carries an excessive alcohol presence, not a burn, but the flavor itself.
Smells and tastes like a classic bourbon, with hints of wood and peppery rye. The finish is somewhat arid and brief. It's acceptable, but not special, particularly considering the cost.
If you appreciate Wathens (8-year Single Barrel), you should adore this. It originates from the same sources. The new 10-year is also fantastic.
