Coleman Hinson 4.5

The aroma is pleasing, yet sharp. It reminds me of the tingling sensation near a campfire. Upon tasting, the heat is far less pronounced than the smell suggested, making it much smoother than anticipated. The rye character is present, complemented by a somewhat slick texture. It offers sweetness with hints of leather and a floral quality. The finish is not overwhelming, allowing a subtle spice to emerge, creating a mild warmth. The texture remains slightly oily. The bottle's description mentions a two-year maturation in large barrels, followed by a finishing period in smaller, artisanal casks. This final stage significantly elevates the spirit. Personal experience with aging spirits in small barrels confirms their remarkable impact. I believe this would be an excellent choice for introducing someone to rye whiskey.
