Attended a tour at Old Forester during its release day. We were fortunate to buy some bottles and the tour concluded with a tasting comparing this to the standard 1910, the 1920, and the Signature 100. This 117 XXO is essentially the standard 1910, but it spent an additional 15 months in a second heavily charred barrel, making it 24 months total. Those extra months truly transformed it! The aroma is wonderful. It suggested a sweet, dessert-like beverage without being overwhelmingly sweet. Toffee and butterscotch were prominent initially, followed by smooth, pleasant oak. An absolutely fantastic mouthfeel – luscious, viscous, buttery, and delightful. And the taste? It's crème brûlée throughout, with undertones of dark cherry and molasses. The finish is incredibly smooth, with no harshness and a subtle hint of Old Forester's signature bananas foster. This is a very pleasing expression. If you appreciate 1910, this is an aged and more developed version of it.

Old Forester's 1910 Extra Extra Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon that is part of The 117 Series, a limited edition collection introduced in spring 2021. This bottling draws inspiration from the brand's 1910 Old Fine Whisky. Similar to that earlier bourbon, this expression undergoes a secondary barrel finish. In this instance, the bourbon matured for 24 months in the secondary barrel, leading to the "Extra Extra Old" designation. It will be exclusively sold at the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville starting December 13, 2022. (SRP $59.99)

If you appreciate 1910, you will adore this. All the flavors are amplified significantly! The mouthfeel is also superior.
