Old Elk Distillery introduced Wheat N’Rye in 2023 as a component of its Master’s Blend series, developed under the guidance of Master Distiller Greg Metze. This blend comprises a 7-year-old straight wheat whiskey, made with a mash bill of 95% wheat and 5% malted barley, and a 6-year-old straight rye whiskey, distilled from 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The spirit is bottled at 108.4 proof.

Tastes more like rye, good but not special enough to warrant the price. I purchased it on sale for $59, suggesting others didn't find it worth $100+. Honestly, numerous other bottles are superior in the $50-$60 range.
If you have the opportunity to sample it before purchasing, you might save yourself over $100. It's a very pleasant pour, but it becomes a bit bitter towards the end, and the complexity of the blended profiles can be overwhelming.
Initially sharp, it softened to a tart, slightly woody finish. Adding a splash or a cube might unlock more flavors. Pleased with the purchase, especially at just under $100.
Pleasant flavor profile. This one has a somewhat unique aftertaste. It's easy to drink.
