About this bottle

The Old Charter Oak series from Buffalo Trace, introduced in 2018, highlights the distinct flavor profiles derived from barrels made with wood from various countries, climates, and soil types. This third edition focuses on French oak. For this bottling, new French oak barrels, procured in 2013, were filled with the distillery's Mash #1, the same recipe used for Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare. It is bottled at 92 proof and was available in limited quantities starting November 2021.

Brenton Lott 4.0

Well crafted with a strong aroma of cinnamon and sugar. It tasted sweet like candied toffee, but a significant oak profile emerged at the finish with some hints of vanilla. You can clearly discern the strong oak taste on your palate, making this a fun and enjoyable tasting experience.

Mariela Romo 4.0

Not on par with Spanish varieties, but a very respectable option.
