Drinking it neat after a neck pour. This is a 5-year selection from Gallenstein. I was disappointed when New Riff acquired this brand, as I didn't want the new release to ruin the classic reputation. The original O.K.I. label and bottle design are my favorites. However, incorporating the Roebling Bridge on the updated label is quite neat. But will the liquid inside match its predecessor? The aroma is sharp and notably free of the typical young MGP characteristic, which is a significant advantage. It even presents some sweet oak notes initially, which is unexpected for a 5-year spirit. I'm detecting strong MGP cherry, caramel drizzle, and a vanilla scone. There's also a mix of fruits accompanying the cherry. A robust aroma, the experience is promising so far! It has a very rich texture on the palate. I taste cinnamon, sugar, and apple, with pepper also present. This evolves into an intense cinnamon flavor, followed by rye spice and pepper. The finish is where it becomes truly remarkable. Following the pepper, there's a pleasant dark chocolate note, and just as I think it's fading, a secondary wave of vanilla and cherry emerges. Its rich oiliness must be responsible for this excellent, lingering finish. Wow. My doubts have been dispelled; I'm all in for this OKI! What an exceptional barrel! I believe this surpasses all my Old Scout bottles (I own 8 different ones, and I considered them excellent). This expression is simply superior and the finest young MGP I've encountered. Damn. The brand is back, and now I need to search for more!

A friend shared this rare bottle. I'm impressed for a 5-year-old spirit at 57.5% ABV. The aroma is sweet cherry. The taste mirrors the aroma, with cherries, honey, and some oak. The finish has a slight warmth.
