About this bottle
This limited edition release is part of Bruichladdich's exceptionally peated Octomore range. It is designated X4 because the single malt underwent four distillations, reaching 89% ABV post-distillation. Made from 100% Scottish-grown barley peated to 162ppm in 2007, it was aged for 10 years before being bottled at 70% ABV, the highest ABV ever released by the distillery. The maturation involved a mix of first-fill American whiskey, oloroso sherry, and Rivesaltes vin doux naturel sweet wine casks. Production was limited to 3000 bottles, sold exclusively via the distillery's website.
