Octomore 09.2 Dialogos

Imagine yourself deep in a deciduous forest while camping, surrounded by damp moss, fallen trees, and young saplings. It's been raining for weeks, making dry wood scarce. You try to start a fire but fail. You resort to lighting a homemade chocolate cake, rich with dark chocolate, cherries, and cream. You set this cake ablaze amidst the wet foliage, creating a smoky aroma. Bottling that essence is what this is like, a true Octomore experience. (9.2)

Aroma: Blackberry jam, cherries, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, intense peat, vanilla. Palate: Earthy peat, cherries, espresso, vanilla, bitter fruits, cocoa powder, a hint of balsamic vinegar. Finish: Long, spicy finish with espresso, peat smoke, and plum jam. An intriguing one. The aroma is outstanding but doesn't quite meet expectations. Abundant blackberry jam and coffee on the nose. The palate features earthy peat and even a touch of balsamic vinegar, but the combination isn't very successful in my view. The finish is long, as is typical for this brand. More espresso and peat on the finish. Not my top choice from this brand, but still enjoyable.

The aroma is dominated by dry, wood fire smoke, with light sweetness and subtle oak notes. A wave of peat and smoke hits the palate, along with notes of cherry and tobacco. The smokiness persists throughout the finish, concluding with peppery hints.

Butter, brown sugar, and a mild smokiness on the nose. Sweet, stone fruit, and rich on the palate.

Very smoky, as expected, but with a pleasing sweetness too!
