This west Highland single malt, Oban 21 Year Cask Strength, is aged in rejuvenated American oak and second-fill sherry casks. The Oban distillery boasts a history predating the town itself, established in 1794, with the town officially recognized as Oban in 1811. Operating with only two pot stills, it ranks among Scotland's smallest yet most respected distilleries, having been operational for over 200 years with only a nine-year period of silence. This release is limited to 2860 bottles; bottle number 1329 is noted.

Exceptional, but quite potent. As it's bottled at cask strength, adding some water is advisable. Ice enhances the vanilla notes. Being a limited edition, acquiring it will be challenging. And once found, when is the right time to open it?
A delightful blend of honey, citrus, sea salt, salted caramel, bananas, coconuts, raisins, plums, dark chocolate, cashews, chestnuts, walnuts, and brown butter.
A tour of the distillery was fascinating, allowing me to taste the spirit at various stages and understand the origin of the subtle salt and honey notes.
A great drink with enjoyable depth, but its reputation didn't fully deliver on the anticipation. Nevertheless, it's a great drink.
