Oak City Amaretto was created by Anthony Scalabrino, who adapted his grandmother's Sicilian amaretto recipe for the product. Oak City shares its production facilities with Raleigh Rum Company, which is also based in Raleigh. The amaretto is bottled at 27% ABV.
