I had the chance to taste this exceptional bourbon at its break-even cost. It has a mild, delicate, and understated aroma, like vanilla cream soda discovered in a venerable, musty library. However, the flavor is incredible: it seems to last forever yet shifts and persists like a chameleon. One moment it's intensely spicy, the next honey-sweet, then fresh, then tasting of vanilla, then menthol, all consistently set against a backdrop of oak, oak, oak. It's like a Willy Wonka jawbreaker of a whiskey; one could savor it for hours without getting bored. Was it worth trying? Absolutely. And while it represents the archetype of all bourbons, I don't feel it diminished my appreciation for future whiskies.
