Slipknot No. 9 Iowa Whiskey

Not a fan of the name, but I enjoyed the interview about this release. It piqued my interest. To be honest, I was doubtful going in. I truly enjoyed this and am considering making it a regular at my home bar. It genuinely reminds me of a mix of bourbon and rye. You absolutely detect notes of both. So, what whiskey enthusiast wouldn't like it? A very good bourbon initially with corn and sweetness, then wait a moment, and there it is, rye. It's quite strange how each time I try it, the experience is identical. Bourbon first, then a minty rye at the conclusion. $36

Nose: Begins with honeysuckle and flower petals. Quickly follows with sweet corn and caramel, plus a touch of freshly picked jalapeño pepper. Palate: Sweet caramel and apple butter are present, then burnt marshmallow and the return of jalapeño. Finish: Sweet toasted marshmallow makes you want another sip. Summary: Most celebrity spirits are a cash grab and a joke. This is one of the rare instances where it is not. Good price. Great pour.

This tasted like a Jalapeno pepper explosion to me. I adored it and am thinking about crafting a drink that showcases the wonderful natural spicy qualities of this whiskey. It certainly has some caramel sweetness and a cinnamon kick on the nose, but this is intensely pepper-forward for me.

The initial alcohol burn is breathtaking. Following that, the flavor is indistinct but clearly burnt. Then, an irritating aftertaste emerges. This is undoubtedly the worst whisky I've unfortunately tasted, and potentially the worst ever produced.

A hot bite at the start gives way to spicy rye that playfully tingles your tongue, finishing with a classic corn whiskey profile. Not for the sophisticated or timid palates. Certainly lives up to the buzz.

Very thin and lacking in flavor. It's true, it's not a high proof, but it still feels like something is missing. Quite floral, with hints of honey and lemon. Very mild, with not much complexity.
