Harmonious, succulent, the high-rye content is exceptionally well-matched with oak/age/corn, all elements are perfectly proportioned. > > Remarks: New Riff's usual non-GMO yellow dent corn from Indiana is almost certainly a remote descendant of the Yellow Leaming featured here. However, the Leaming 1820s vintage heirloom corn appears to impart an enhanced richness, consistency, complexity, and quality to our typical 65/30/5 blend. This Bourbon is distinguished by an added fullness, along with a lively, almost flawless equilibrium of corn, piquant rye, oak, and age—it's truly among the finest Riffs produced!

This particular bourbon features Yellow Leaming, a type of Native American corn originating in 1824, sourced from Charles Fogg of Greensburg, Indiana. The mash bill consists of 65% Yellow Leaming corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley. It has been aged for 5 years and is bottled in bond. Availability began in spring 2023 at the distillery's Aquifer Tasting bar, select Kentucky retailers, and the New Riff Whiskey Club, with an SRP of $55.99.

Lively corn aromas are highlighted by a generous amount of oak char. The nose is strong and vibrant. It's sweet on the palate, with some rye spice adding intensity. The flavor is full, with a rich texture that relies heavily on the cask for depth. The finish is quite long, concluding with wood notes. Very delicious and well-executed.
Sampled this on the same evening as the blue clarage. This version is less creamy but offers more baking spices, dried fruit, and leather. The finish is warm but not overwhelming. A solid bourbon for its price, providing a good blend of flavors.
This distillery continues to impress. I enjoy everything they are producing, and this is no exception. It's accessible and classic, yet still unique.
