Nassif Family Reserve American Whiskey

Neat. Neck pour. A personal blend from ADHD Whiskey. 65% light whiskey, 35% rye, 15% bourbon. I appreciate light whiskey, but they all tend to taste similar regardless of the barrel or bottle. Let's see if the creator added any depth. It's light whiskey with an added dimension of fruit. So, butterscotch, light caramel, and graham cracker honey all come through. Then I'm detecting a combination of blood orange and watermelon (this might be the first time I've identified watermelon). The watermelon also has salt. I don't detect much else, but it's oddly refreshing. Texture is average. Very, very sweet initially. Those fruits (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew) are immediately present, accompanied by butterscotch. Wow, a medley of fruits and honey in the mid-palate. Butterscotch, honey, and graham cracker in the medium finish. The butterscotch sweetness really lingers. This is 107 proof and it is dangerously easy to drink. The melon notes were unexpected, so the blend did successfully add a dimension to light whiskey. It's a fun pour and a good value as well.

This is also for a special blend. It's remarkably easy to drink for 107 proof, as both my wife and sister, who don't usually care for high-proof spirits, enjoyed it. It's very sweet but complex. A fantastic purchase, though sadly this specific blend is no longer available. I'm open to trying other versions, especially if they cost under $40!

Quick thoughts from the 2023 New Orleans Bourbon Festival: This is a mix of light whiskey, high rye bourbon, and rye whiskey, but it predominantly presents as a rye from smell to taste, including the baking spices on the finish. However, its sweetness makes it more approachable.

The nose smelled like the burnt dust scent I get when I first turn on the furnace each year. The taste is cinnamon and oak. It drinks lighter than its proof. I really enjoy it.

The aroma has cinnamon and baking spices with subtle notes of maple and orange. The taste is strongly cinnamon and nutmeg, with orange custard. These robust flavors quickly fade into a warming finish.

Super drinkable. It hits the front of the palate lightly and finishes with a touch of rye spice. It drinks as if it were 90 proof.
