Leapfrog 1987 12 Year (Murray McDavid)

My sense of smell is returning after Covid, but this was a present, so I decided to try it. I detect a lot of vanilla and peat right away, even before smelling the glass directly. It smells amazing. The color is a lovely light amber with substantial legs. The initial sip is very smooth, starting with more vanilla, followed by an influx of peat, salt, and fresh grass, with even more vanilla. The finish is smoky, with a trace of something I can't quite identify yet that stays on the palate for a good duration – perhaps dried fruit? I'll revisit this once my senses are fully functional to compare. Get vaccinated, everyone. I did, and I'm sure it prevented a hospital stay. Keep your unproven remedies away. And a special message for a certain politician. Enjoy.
