About this bottle

The Muirhead's Clan, an ancient Scottish family, served as King James IV of Scotland's royal guards in the early 1500s. The name Muirhead's translates to "head of the Moor" or "highest point of the Moor" in Gaelic. This Scotch is made in Scotland and has been aged for a minimum of 16 years in oak barrels, bottled at 40% ABV.

Nose: Classic sherry notes, with clear hints of honey and raisins. Palate: Raisins persist, accompanied by a syrupy sweetness and a touch of bright tartness. Finish: A light finish that transitions to floral grass, mint, and lavender. Note: This expression is actually 12 years old. For the cost, it's quite good. Its overall character places it alongside Balvenie Doublewood. However, I'd spend an extra twenty for the toasted oat and warm almond flavors that complement Balvenie's honey sweetness. This offers a less refined, syrupy sweetness.

Nose: sweet with perfumed characteristics. Whispers of cocoa and fruit. Taste: an immediate and surprising heat. Sweet and rich, with jolts of cocoa and fruit. A little slick, yet it doesn’t linger on the palate. A solid bottle for showing off, though the price is a bit steep for what it is. Good for guests.
