It's been a significant period since I last sat down to formally taste something. Don't misunderstand me; I've enjoyed many glasses. A quiet evening allows me some time to explore a sample. Nose: This presents as fruity and sweet initially. Orchard fruits are prominent. A potpourri of ripe plums, apples, and pears. A sprinkle of cinnamon, almonds, and hay. All of these contribute an earthiness to the aroma. Palate: A jammy, sweet taste with a bit of heat and a slight burn. The nose carries through to the palate. Grape jam, cinnamon, almonds, and hay. There isn't much deviation. Finish: A hint of oak on the finish, accompanied by white pepper and traces of the grape jam. The finish is of medium length, leaving the mouth slightly dry. Overall: A respectable drink. Tasty and unobjectionable. However, it's rather static in both aroma and flavor. Not showy. It sips quite like scotch. Enjoyable. Thanks to a friend for the sample. Smooth, invigorating, grassy, slightly sweet, with a hint of smoke emerging later.
