It's agreeably sweet, and I suspect the neutral spirit aged on its own before herb infusion. This spirit wasn't intended for gin but ended up used that way. Regardless, I imagine it's destined for cocktails with many components, so it hardly matters. If you're drinking it straight and feel disappointed, remembering the low cost will likely bring back contentment.
