This isn't top-tier gin, but it's surprisingly decent for its cost. It brought back memories of gin from my childhood in the 1950s. It's heavy on juniper and citrus; while more palatable neat than anticipated, I wouldn't suggest it. In mixed drinks, the prominent juniper stands out in tonic water or a Negroni, with the harsher aspects toned down. I've given it an extra star due to its value.
Gibley's gin presents as a neutral vodka with prominent juniper and spice aromas. The initial taste is ethanol followed by bitter grapefruit and a trace of juniper. It's not enjoyable neat or in mixed drinks. Gibley's gin is a pale imitation of its former self from the 1960s and 1970s.
A solid gin, especially considering its affordable price. At 40% ABV, it's easy to drink and a good component in mixed drinks.
