Midleton Single Cask 1992 Pot Still

This whiskey was produced and aged at Midleton Distillery in Cork, starting in June 1992. It spent 20 years in cask #31431. This triple-distilled, single cask, Single Pot Still whiskey was specifically chosen and bottled to commemorate the visit of An Taoiseach Enda Kenny T.D. to Midleton Distillery on May 25, 2012. The visit marked the start of the distillery's €100 million expansion project. The whiskey aged in a second-fill bourbon barrel (31431) in warehouse M10, Bay 015. It is non-chill filtered at 46% ABV. This whiskey was not released to the general public; an estimated 250 bottles were produced. Nose: Butterscotch and fudge with ripe banana. Delicate grapefruit, melon sorbet, and a touch of menthol, balanced by vanilla and toasted oak. Taste: A mouth-coating Pot Still with sweet notes of vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, cinnamon, and clove. Pot Still spices with barley grains taking the final bow. Finish: The subtle balance of flavors gradually fades to a focus on the Pot Still whiskey's core – the barley.
