The aroma is delicate, a superb blend of ripe fruit and smooth vanilla, perfectly balanced by a touch of charred oak. The grain bill includes sweet yellow corn, soft red winter wheat, dark pumpernickel rye, and two-row barley. The distinctive grain selection is evident in the aroma, with a subtle spiciness resembling white pepper, while the barley and wheat contribute a rich serving of crème brûlée and ripe fruit. The charred oak, along with faint hints of smoke, prevents it from being overly sweet. The taste is dry yet rich, coating the mouth with a surge of pepper, creamy vanilla, ripe fruit, and charred oak. It's remarkably smooth given the 63% ABV, with the richness of the creamy notes effectively tempering the spicier elements. It's impressively robust without being overwhelming. Essentially, it's vanilla custard with oak and pepper, and it's simply wonderful. The finish is medium in length, with a pepperiness that leaves a tingle at the corners of your mouth as delicious notes of creamy vanilla and oak gradually fade with each sip. This is an excellent example of high-proof yet incredibly smooth whiskey. While it lacks an age statement, it must have spent a good number of years maturing to achieve this intensity. This is the last of this specific single barrel I have, and I eagerly anticipate trying more.

Numerous bourbons are subpar. Many young wheated bourbons are also harsh and lacking maturity. This offers incredible value in the current market. If you can't secure a Weller, I highly recommend looking into this overlooked treasure. It's slightly less viscous than Antique or SR, but the balance of sweet and spice is superb. It lacks an oaky, tannic taste. It's a wonderfully smooth and enjoyable drink. Kudos to Middle West for their exceptional, precise work on a younger bourbon. I'm excited to see how it develops with age!

This pour, described by the group as "Four Grains of the Apocalypse," is outstanding. Despite their claim that it could rival bottles like Stagg Jr. and ECBP, I was doubtful. However, after letting it sit for about 20 minutes, it's remarkably good. It's sweet and full-bodied, with subtle spice and a touch of fruit emerging. I'm genuinely impressed and am considering purchasing another before it disappears.

The aroma presents butterscotch, ethanol, honey, caramel, leather, and a hint of overripe banana. The palate is creamy with white pepper, honey, baking spices, and vanilla. The finish is quite long and surprisingly drying despite minimal oak influence, with notes of tobacco and caramel, white sugar, and vanilla appearing in the latter half of the drink.

It has oak, toasted walnut, vanilla, and dried apricot, along with strong floral notes like honeysuckle on the finish.
