Served neat. First pour from the bottle. The aroma is intense initially. After some time to open up, the nose reveals abundant vanilla and butterscotch, followed by fresh grass and pepper. It develops into vanilla frosting as it sits. The texture is creamy, with powdered sugar on the palate. It then shifts to more vanilla, a touch of mint, and a hint of bubble gum. There's a very subtle hint of spice. Decent legs of vanilla and that bubble gum follow. The pepper provides a good burn the more I drink. After a few sips, I experienced a potent Kentucky hug. It's very pleasant, but its age definitely prevents it from being a standout MGP product. I prefer my Backbone Store Pick (4.5 years old) over this.

Strong alcohol on the nose. The palate does have a sweet maple and somewhat fruity taste, but you can also detect its youth. I didn't care for the finish; I'm not sure what it is, but it's almost like licorice. Definitely not worth the price, but since I own it, I'll keep trying to see if I grow to like it. Worst case, it will make a solid mixer.

Not to my liking. On the palate, young oak and char are too prominent, with mild banana and nuttiness, white pepper, and significant burn. It tastes somewhat like cherry-flavored cough syrup. $60 for a 4-year-old MGP product? I'll pass. Glad I only had a sample. A major downgrade from the previous versions.

Smell: A sweet fruitiness with nice toasted oak Taste: Good mouthfeel, the taste follows the aroma with sweet fruity flavors. Mainly citrus and some sour apple with hints of baking spice. Aftertaste: The mellow oakiness reappears and enhanced baking spice.

Landen Bowen 5.0

It's quite remarkable considering it's only 4 years old. It certainly warrants acclaim! Well done! It brings to mind the tasting notes from Stagg Jr. Bursting with flavor. My regular evening choice.:)

Mckinley Jung 4.3

Smell: sweet fruit, bubblegum, and spice Taste: more berry and stone fruit along with bubblegum and a noticeable Rye spice Aftertaste: lingers nicely and concludes everything.
