The aroma of this VS is appealing and fruity, like baked apples with cinnamon. It has a sharp alcohol presence, but that's expected for a VS. The taste continues the fruitiness, leaning more towards fresh pear and raisins. A touch of spice remains, but the ethanol is quite harsh and rough. This is definitely better suited for cocktails than for sipping straight.
It offers a genuine Cognac bouquet, reminiscent of fine grapes. Though it could use more complexity (minimal vanilla or barrel spices detected), the liquid is remarkably smooth. I'm tempted to drink it neat or on ice, reserving the Ciroc VS for cocktails. After all, that's its intended purpose, according to Ciroc.
Sweet aromas of marmalade, Medjool date, hazelnut, vanilla, and nutmeg. Full-bodied. On the palate, more notes of marmalade, date, vanilla, and hazelnut, accented by plenty of dark chocolate and cinnamon on the finish. Finishes medium-long with some very mild heat. Rated 3.50/5.00 – Impressive (neat).
It begins with subtle notes of apple and grape, complemented by vanilla and oak, leading to a brief, mellow finish with a hint of spice. While not the finest cognac I’ve experienced, it’s certainly decent. It lacks excitement, but I would suggest this to anyone seeking a fundamental cognac/brandy profile at a reasonable cost.
As a culinary professional, I rely on this Cognac for cooking and sauces. Its affordability makes it suitable for all standard Brandy uses. No harshness appears upon reduction to dryness. Opt for this over cheap Brandy; your palate will thank you!
